MAKE YOUR WAY FIT FOR THE FUTURE MAPPING REVIEW

Community Action Lanarkshire are in the process of developing a programme to run 15 events in 5 communities across rural Clydesdale (the wider project will engage with 12 communities) and will promote positive mental health and wellbeing by providing opportunities for people to connect and to learn and share skills and knowledge locally.

Our proposed campaign brand review will ultimately make it easier for even more people to choose to walk or cycle for short local journeys. We will focus on 5 core communities - Abington, Crawfordjohn, Douglas, Douglas Water and Leadhills - which will receive new community sited Active travel map boards (this did not happen in previous MYW programmes, for a variety of reasons - primarily Covid 19).

Our innovative programme of 15 active and outdoor community mapping review events will utilise our highly successful “walk and talk” (and cycle) map review event model developed during the delivery of our just completed Make Your Way programme in Lesmahagow, Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill and Boghead.

We will run a shorter programme of events in Carstairs Junction, Coalburn, Crawford and Elvanfoot, Glespin, Rigside and Coulter/Lamington to fully update MYW information there.

We are also revising existing sustainable transport option booklets for longer journeys and overhauling the MYW website and plan the relaunch of new community reviewed information.
