Rural villages in North Lanarkshire will launch their individual community action plans at an event in Airdrie on October 9th at Gartlea Community Centre at 6pm. The plans explain what the community’s priorities are for the next five years and highlight particular projects the community would like to work on together to improve their place. The plans can also be used as evidence by any community group seeking funding or by organisations who deliver services in that community.
The action plans are the culmination of over 6 months of work by local steering groups in Upperton, Caldercruix, Greengairs and Plains, with detailed input from Steering Groups made up of local people. Supported by LEADER funded Community Action Lanarkshire, communities created tailored street surveys, held open drop-in sessions and detailed focus groups, all leading to the production of the Action Plans.
The plans will be launched at the Community Matters event on 9th October and hope to see as many people as possible from these communities with copies of the plans available on the night.
Anyone who can’t make it along, can view each plan on the links below:
Ruth McElhinney, CAL Development Officer says, “Working with these rural communities to help capture and set out their aspirations has been a really uplifting experience. We are looking forward to continued engagement with them to help take some of the projects they identified forward.”
Marian DiNardo, Chair of Caldercruix Community Council says, “The Action Plan encompasses all of the projects we would like to see happen in Caldercruix over the next 5 years.”
