- Nicola, Wishaw Family Learning Centre staff gets Forest Training from Karen Gibb, Little Forest Cherubs 

We had a fantastic day which consisted of our morning learning how to make and light fires safely with the added bonus of making toasted marshmallows and popcorn...... and a wee cup of tea!!  We learnt how to use tools to cut branches correctly for fire sticks and how to scrape the ends suitable for the marshmallows. In the afternoon we began to look at the trees and become familiar with what ones were suitable for making tree swings on. From then it was all about learning about the different knots to use and how to attach logs to make the swings. Afterwards of course we had to try them out. We are now looking forward to our family days at Perchy Pond on the 31st January and 21st February run by Karen Gibb, Little Cherubs, where we will be able to put our training into practise with children and parents. Look out for the updated posts on our days.
