We recently completed our Make Your Way Fit For the Future mapping programme in rural Cyldesdale where we reviewed maps in Abington, Carstairs Junction, Coalburn, Crawford, Crawfordjohn, Douglas, Douglas Water, Glespin, Leadhills & Rigside & we ran a shorter programme of events in Carstairs Junction, Coalburn, Crawford and Elvanfoot, Glespin, Rigside and Coulter/Lamington. The scenery & landscapes we have here in Clydesdale speak for themselves!
We focussed on 5 core communities - Abington, Crawfordjohn, Douglas, Douglas Water and Leadhills - all of which will receive new community sited Active travel map boards (this did not happen in previous MYW programmes, for a variety of reasons - primarily Covid 19). The new Map Boards & updated Maps will be in place before the end of May 2024 & we would love to see you all at our launch events (dates to be confirmed)
As part of the mapping review we had a Make Your Way Fit For The Future School Engagement Programme which involved Primary School pupils from Abington, Coulter, Douglas, Rigside & Coalburn. Pupils took part in Active Travel events which included making placards & going a short protest near their School to help promote a more sustainable way of travel rather than taking the car. The pupils have co-curated a walk in their area which will feature on https://www.facebook.com/Gojauntly in the near future - watch this space!
